It is the last day of August, and it feels like an appropriate time to say ‘goodbye’ to summer. This image of the top of our rare George I gilt gesso card table features a magnificent flower head surrounded by acanthus leaves and other flowering foliage – the epitome of summer!

This summer we have highlighted a number of interesting antique pieces and stories. We looked at a painting of the interior of Thirlestaine House and explored the history of the house and its possible attribution.

We highlighted our summer lamps catalogue featuring a wide variety of antique lamps from our collection.

We shared Antique Collecting Magazine’s article on our magnificent pair of George III paper scroll tables.

And of course, we looked at the Age of Walnut – the title of our summer exhibition. In addition to highlighting several pieces from the exhibition, we gave a history of the age of walnut in England here, here, and here.
So for now, goodbye to summer, and welcome autumn…
